National Film Awards: Veteran Actress Asha Parekh awarded with Dadasaheb Phalke Awars
Asha Parekh has also been awarded the Padma Shri award in 1992. He was awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001 and the International Indian Film Academy Award in 2006. She was the first woman president of the Censor Board from 1998 to 2001.
Veteran actress Asha Parekh has been selected for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Union Minister Anurag Thakur has given information in this regard. He will be honored by President Draupadi Murmu on 30 September. This highest honor of the film industry is being given to him for his contribution to the industry. Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the members of the Dadasaheb Phalke Committee include famous singer Asha Bhosle, actress Hema Malini, actress Poonam Dhillon and singer Udit Narayan Jha.
All of them together held a committee meeting and Asha Parekh was elected. He started working in films at the age of 10. He first made his Bollywood debut with the famous film director Vimal Roy's 'Maa'. He has worked in more than 95 films and has also been awarded Padma Shri. Asha Parekh's superhit films include 'Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai', 'Phir Wahi Dil Laya Hoon', 'Teesri Manzil', 'Baharon'. K Sapne', 'Pyaar Ka Mausam', 'Kati Patang' and Caravan.
Born on October 2, 1942 in Bangalore in a Gujarati family, Asha Parekh appeared in films as a heroine with many legendary actors including Devanand, Rajesh Khanna, Shashi Kapoor, Jitendra, Manoj Kumar and Dharmendra. Asha Parekh's mother taught her classical dance at a very young age. Asha also did many dance shows in the country and abroad. She wanted to become a doctor or an IAS officer in her childhood but luck brought her to the film world. She started her film career as a child artist in the film "Aasman" in 1952. In the same period, filmmaker Bimal Rai saw her dancing in a show. He was impressed by Asha and gave her a role in the film 'Baap Beti' in 1954. Asha was 12 years old at that time.
Famous film director Nasir Hussain made many films about Asha Parekh. These include 'Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai (1961)', 'Phir Wahi Dil Laya Hoon (1963)', 'Teesri Manzil (1966)', 'Bahar Ke Sapne (1967)', 'Pyaar Ka Mausam (1969)' and 'Pyaar Ka Mausam (1969)'. Films like 'Caravan' (1971) achieved immense success. His hits include films like 'Do Badan' (1966), 'Chirag' (1969), 'Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978)' and 'Kati Patang'. She also received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the film 'Kati Patang'.
