Mumbai Rains: Orange Alert Issued, Schools & Colleges Remain Open

Mumbai Rains: On Friday, July 26, 2024, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared that despite of the severe downpours, the schools and colleges would be open.
The decision will allow Mumbai residents to proceed with their daily lives without disruption. On Friday,due to the heavy rainfall, schools and colleges will closed.

The BMC declared their decision via X "As a result, all schools and colleges in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) area will remain open regularly tomorrow, Friday, 26th July 2024. Parents are humbly requested not to believe any other information or rumours regarding school and college holidays and to rely only on official information from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation," the BMC emphasized.

The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) predicted “heavy to very heavy rainfall in city and suburbs”. "Possibility of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places. Occasional gusty winds reaching 60-70 kmph very likely.” Said, in a post on X.
Raigad is suffering from a different set of circumstances, whereas Mumbai gets back to its routine. On Friday, because of the severe weather conditions, the administration of Raigad ordered that the schools and colleges will be closed.
The (IMD) has issued various alerts over the region for the next few days. An orange alert has been issued for July 26 and a yellow alert for July 27 for Mumbai. A red alert for July 26, and an orange alert for July 27 in Raigad. For Ratnagiri and Satara a red alert has been issued for July 26.
On Thursday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde contacted the Raigad collector to discuss to support for all the residents who were affected by the flood when he evaluated the states of Maharastra which were affected by the rainfall.
"Isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely over ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during July 25-27 and in Konkan & Goa on 25 and 26 July and Gujarat region on 25th July," the IMD noted.
In the past 24 hours until 8.30 am on Thursday, rainfall across Mumbai has been measured as 44 mm in the city, 90 mm in the Eastern suburbs, and 89 mm in the Western suburbs.
