Mumbai getting worse, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announces all schools and colleges to be closed on Sept 26.
"The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Mumbai, till tomorrow morning 8.30am.In view of this, all schools and colleges in Mumbai have been declared a holiday for tomorrow Thursday, 26 September 2024, in consideration of the safety of students," said BMC in statement.

IMD has forecasted thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense spells of rain with gusty winds of 40-50 kmph at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai, Palghar, Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Solapur & Satara in the next few hours.
Earlier in the day, IMD had issued red alert for Thane, Palghar, Raigad districts and for Ratnagiri district on Sept 26.

On Sept 25, in its daily weather bulletin for the country, IMD had predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, East Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Marathwada, Coastal Karnataka, Bihar; Heavy rainfall at isolated places over Rayalaseema, Gujarat Region, Chhattisgarh, West Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Interior Karnataka & Telangana.
Heavy rain in Mumbai which is the financial capital of India, airport got disrupted as, 7 go-arounds and 2 flights diverted at Mumbai airport till 8 pm.
As per the officials, 2 flights diverted, 7 flights did go-arounds at Mumbai airport. Traffic jam on roads and local trains running behind schedule.
