MS Dhoni Reveals Secret to Rishabh Pant on Insane Run-Out, LSG Captain Responds with ‘Smooth’ Reply
MS Dhoni talked about the crazy dismissal which made him the first wicketkeeper in IPL history to effect 200 dismissals.

MS Dhoni: That run-out was one of the highlights of MS Dhoni's match-winning performance against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday at the Ekana Stadium, a performance that could probably make it to the highlight reels for the current IPL 2025 season. The run-out of Abdul Samad left experts divided on whether it was simple luck or yet another show of his skill, while Dhoni opened up about the event later on, one that brought him to register as the first wicketkeeper in IPL history to effect 200 dismissals.

It is at the second ball of the penultimate over of Lucknow's innings, when Matheesha Pathirana bowled a wide down the leg side against Samad while Pant called for a quick single, which into this Samad was a bit late in responding.
Dhoni was once again smart after taking in the ball, having realised that Pant was well beyond the halfway mark, and so he threw it straight to the non-striker's end and hit that bull's-eye, just as Samad was inches away from his crease.
Dhoni is indeed seen being asked by Pant about the run out when he spills the beans regarding his "mentality" in a video released on their social media handle by Lucknow Super Giants.
"Wicket dekha, maar diya (I just saw the stumps and went for it). It either hits or misses, that was the mentality," he said. "I'm wala karega (He will do it)," responded Pant very smoothly as Zaheer Khan, the LSG mentor, is seen emulating Dhoni in the clip.

But at that time, the Lucknow captain did confess to being a bit afraid that Dhoni might intend to get him out instead. He added: “I was close, I ran fast. I was worried, I'd be run out.”
A "fluke", was it?
Formerly of the Chennai Super Kings, Robin Uthappa, who has had his fair share of keeping experience throughout his career, remarked that it was a 'tukka' (fluke) from Dhoni.
Dhoni later came to the party with a quick 26 not out off 11 as Chennai broke their losing streak to win over Lucknow by five wickets.
