All the schools selected for the first phase will be announced in March. Of these, about one thousand schools can be from Uttar Pradesh alone. According to the Ministry of Education, 14,500 government schools across the country are to be upgraded under the PM-Shri scheme. These schools are being selected under stiff competition. In this, only two schools are to be selected from each block. It will have a primary and junior high school.
