During the summer, the hot air of the land starts rising up, due to which a low-pressure area starts forming in the land area. Conversely, a high-pressure area starts forming in the sea, because it is colder there than on land. This sea air starts moving towards low-pressure areas ie land. These winds also bring with them the moisture of the ocean. These are called monsoon winds.
In India, these winds come from two directions. South-West and South-East. Based on the direction of the winds, the southwest and southeast monsoons are called. The monsoon starts withdrawing from the northwest parts of India on 15th September and by 15th October the monsoon completely disappears.
