Mithuna Sankranti 2021- All you need to know
In Odisha, India, Raja or Raja Parba or Mithuna Sankranti is a three-day festival honoring women. The second day of the event marks the start of the Mithuna solar month, from which the rainy season begins.

Odisha hosts 13 festivals during the course of a year. Raja is one of Odisha's most prominent festivals. Unmarried girls put on new outfits, play cards, and have a good time on this day. This is a three-day celebration dedicated to female empowerment. It takes place on Mithuna Sankranti when the second day of the event marks the start of the Mithuna solar month, from which the rainy season begins.
During the first three days, the Mother Goddess Earth, or Lord Vishnu's heavenly wife, is said to be menstruating. The fourth day is known as VasumatiSnana or Bhudevi's ceremonial bath.
All agricultural work comes to a halt during these days as a symbol of respect for the Earth during her menstruation days. Notably, it's a festival for unmarried girls who might become mothers. They all adhere to the limits that a menstrual woman is required to follow.
Due to the lockdown restrictions, no social gatherings are planned. People, on the other hand, are celebrating the celebration at home. Raja wishes have inundated social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Sankranti refers to the Sun's transition from one zodiac sign to the next. Every month, the Sun moves to a new zodiac sign, therefore there are 12 Sankranti in a year. When the Sun moves from Taurus into Gemini, it is known as Mithun Sankranti (Mithun). Mithun Sankranti is celebrated today this year (June 15).
People were wished on the occasion by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Governor Ganeshi Lal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP president JP Nadda, State Congress president Niranjan Patnaik, and other politicians.
