Microsoft Introduces 'Much-Needed' Feature to Its Notepad for Windows 11 Insider Preview

As it appears, Microsoft is on a mission to modernise every app it offers on its Windows platform. With its latest design language and new features, the company has already updated most of its apps and services. The latest app that is getting an update is Notepad, which was released 41 years ago.
In Notepad for Windows 11 Insider Preview, Microsoft adds spell-check, autocorrect, coding file exceptions, dark mode, tab support, AI integration, character count tracking, autosave, and a virtual fidget spinner.
The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26085 fixes an issue that caused shutdown and hibernation not to work in the previous flight.
A beta version of the Windows 11 operating system and the Windows Insider Preview builds are currently able to use the feature. In Notepad, the spell check feature mirrors the functionality of popular word processors and web browsers like Microsoft Word. It flags misspelled words with a red underline, prompting users to correct them by right-clicking for suggestions.
Providing a tailored editing experience, users can customize spell-check preferences globally or for specific file types. In recognition of the unique needs of coding environments, spell check is disabled by default for coding-related file types like log files.
A recent update to Notepad streamlines document management by tracking character counts and offering autosave options. Besides dark mode, tab support, and AI integration, Microsoft has also added playful features like a virtual fidget spinner to the app.
Microsoft introduced this spell check update, but users seem to prefer the notepad without it.
