The company also said it would not indicate the number of users who found themselves in the situation, without revealing the error which occurred.
Even though we were not able to figure out why the account was violated, Meta apologized as the company recently defended its plans to terminate its U.S. fact-checking operation in Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
"We have fixed an error that caused some users to see content in their Instagram Reels feed that should not have been recommended. We apologize for the mistake," a spokesperson for Meta told Reuters.
Reels feeds have been criticized by several social media users complaining of violent or NSFW content. Most of those users who suffered said "sensitive content control" wasn't working for them as it should, notwithstanding the filter control of "selecting an option where inappropriate contents are concealed.

Meta has taken more flak recently because of the decision to drop United States reality checks from the three platforms it owns, which are Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, where about 3.5 billion monthly users were registered in the first quarter of 2021 worldwide.
It also generally does not allow violent and graphic videos, and hence deletes these videos as an everyday operational part to keep its users safe. Obviously established exceptions to the policy are limited and come through for videos raising awareness on human rights misuse or conflict.
In its push toward the shift from US fact-checking, an operation more dependent on its automated moderation tools should be anticipated by the company.
Notably, Meta has drawn outrage for not being able to effectively interlace user safety and content recommendations; for instance, on the violence in Myanmar or the outbreak of eating disorder-related content through Instagram to teenagers or just misinformation in Covid-19 cases.
