West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee promised that after coming to power in Meghalaya, women of each family would be given one thousand rupees every month. He said that the government of Conrad Sangma has neglected women. Assembly elections are to be held in Meghalaya early next year. Mamta Banerjee's TMC has stepped up the preparations for this. Today, I met the families of the victims of the tragic Mukroh firing.

It was my duty to stand by them in their time of grief.

As a small act of assistance, I handed over ex gratia cheques of ₹5 lakhs to their kin.

May God give them strength to tide over these tough times. pic.twitter.com/pOh3GZYhye
