BJP has become stronger in Meghalaya. Four MLAs from the state have joined the BJP. Those who joined BJP include two MLAs from NPP, one from TMC and one independent. West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee promised that after coming to power in Meghalaya, women of each family would be given one thousand rupees every month. As a small gesture, I handed over ex-gratia checks of Rs 5 lakh to the families of each of them.
