Marco Rubio, China ‘Hawk’ Sanctioned Twice by Beijing, Becomes New US Secretary of State

New US Secretary of State: Marco Rubio, the US senator from Florida, an Israel backer, and a China hawk, received the unanimous endorsement of the Senate for the position of Secretary of State on a Monday-NOV. In this capacity, He stood out as the first person to be appointed into this cabinet of the recently sworn-in Trump presidential administration.
Marco Rubio, at 53 years old, had previously proposed legislation that would treat India in the same way as key US allies regarding technology transfers and security, like Japan, Israel, South Korea, and members of NATO.
According to the PTI, another provision of this bill proposed stemming aid for security assistance to Pakistan unless that country stopped sponsoring terrorism against India.

Senator Rubio was among the other 99 senators also confirming Rubio's appointment, meaning that this would be a filling of an empty position following former Vice President JD Vance's resignation.
Who is Marco Rubio?
Marco Rubio has represented Florida in the US Senate since 2011. He's known for being a China hawk and has faced sanction by the Asian power twice.
Rubio, who hails from Miami with Cuban immigrant parents, has a long-standing interest in foreign affairs issues, most notably those concerning South America.
The first Latino secretary of State was congratulated by Congressional leaders for being extremely qualified. Although Schumer's support for swift confirmation was proffered, he disagreed with some of Rubio's policy stances.
Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Jim Risch welcomed Rubio's appointment while being in agreement that the United States needs a strong, action-oriented diplomat who will deal forthrightly with such global threats as China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran.
Marco Rubio on US-India ties
Rubio has also been a strong advocate for US-India relations, introducing a bill last year to lift India's status to that of other US allies and afford it increased military and defense cooperation.

Marco Rubio had also advocated for sanctioning Pakistan for supporting terrorism against India.
Senator Chuck Grassley praised Rubio for his intelligence and insights with regard to American foreign policy because of Rubio's ties to the American dream through his family attention to the Cuban immigrant experience.
"Marco Rubio is a man so bright with extraordinarily negative experiences in who apparently knows too much about American foreign policy," said Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the senior-most Republican.
After Marco Rubio, another pick John Ratcliffe for CIA director is also likely to see a quick vote, sometime on Tuesday, according to an Associated Press report saying that the rest, including former combat veteran and Fox News host Pete Hegseth for defense secretary, could thus get the vetting later this week.
