Manipur government orders action against teachers giving coaching or tuition
In order to provide quality education in schools, the government has decided that strict disciplinary action will be taken against government teachers providing coaching classes/private tuitions.

Manipur government has asked teachers to refrain from taking private tuitions and coaching in private institutions, else they will face disciplinary action. An official of the School Education Department, quoting the notification of Commissioner, Education (Schools) H. Gyan Prakash, said that the government has noticed that some teachers employed in the schools run by the department are either taking private tuitions or working in coaching centres. Both are in violation of the Conduct of Civil Services Rules, 1964.
The notification states that, no Government servant shall, without the previous sanction of the Government, engage directly or indirectly in any trade or profession. The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 also prohibits teachers to engage themselves in private tutoring or private teaching activity. In order to provide quality education in schools, the government has decided that strict disciplinary action will be taken against government teachers providing coaching classes/private tuitions.
