Mamta had expressed a lot of displeasure about this in front of the PM and said that it is not right to insult someone in this way by calling them in a government program. Despite the death of his mother, PM Modi on Friday inaugurated various railway projects in Bengal through video conferencing.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched various railway projects related to connectivity in Bengal through video conferencing. On this occasion, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also participated in the program organized at Howrah station. However, as soon as Mamta reached before the start of the program, the BJP supporters already present there started raising slogans of Jai Shri Ram, which infuriated Mamta again.
Mamta Banerjee expressed great displeasure over the slogans of Jai Shri Ram being raised during the government program. Even angry Mamta refused to share the stage. After this, senior railway officials including Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav present there tried to pacify Mamta. Mamta calmed down after this. After this, in her address, Mamta expressed grief over the demise of PM Modi's mother and paid tribute to her.
Expressing gratitude to the PM, Mamta said that you came even in this hour of grief, thanks for that. Mamta said that there is nothing greater than mother. My sympathies are with you. During this, Mamta expressed happiness over the inauguration of other railway projects including the Joka-Taratla section of Kolkata Metro and said that when she was the Railway Minister, she had approved this metro project.
This is not the first time that Mamta got angry with the slogan of Jai Shri Ram. Earlier, on January 23 last year, on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Mamta was infuriated in front of everyone for raising slogans of Jai Shri Ram in a program organized by the Union Ministry of Culture at the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present in that program. Mamta had expressed a lot of displeasure about this in front of the PM and said that it is not right to insult someone in this way by calling them in a government program. Despite the death of his mother, PM Modi on Friday inaugurated various railway projects in Bengal through video conferencing. The PM gifted various railway projects worth more than Rs 7,600 crore to the state, including flagging off Bengal's first Vande Bharat train running between Howrah to Jalpaiguri.
