Major accident in Gorakhpur: Under construction balcony of Islamia College collapsed, two people buried, rescue work underway

Pradeep, buried under the construction material, kept pleading for help. Moaning in pain. He used to demand water from time to time, but the doctors advised not to give water. Major accident in Gorakhpur: Under construction balcony of Islamia College collapsed, two people buried, rescue work underway

The visor of the under-construction portico at the northern gate of Islamia College of Commerce, Bakshipur, collapsed late on Wednesday evening. Two laborers were buried under it. After hard work, a laborer was taken out late in the night and admitted to the hospital. Rescue work was going on in search of another laborer. Some more people were injured in the accident. On the other hand, DM Krishna Karunesh has constituted a three-member committee headed by the Municipal Magistrate. In this, the Executive Engineer of the Provincial Division of the Public Works Department and the Executive Engineer of the Construction Division have been included. The committee has been directed to submit a report immediately, fixing the cause of the incident and the responsibility of those responsible.

Portico is being constructed at the North Gate of Islamia College of Commerce. After the shuttering around 6 pm on Saturday, the work of casting the balcony was going on. Pradeep (26) of Sidhawal Pipraich and Raju (60) of Basantpur Saraiya were sending construction material upstairs from below. Ramkaran was putting a balcony above. In the meantime, the visor along with the shuttering collapsed. According to the information received, Ramkaran got hurt due to the fall of the balcony, but he narrowly escaped. Raju and Pradeep, who were living in a rented house in Basantpur Saraiya, got buried under the balcony. As soon as the police and administrative officials got the information, there was a stir.

The matter was informed to NDRF and SDRF. The team came and relief work was started. After a struggle of two and a half hours, Pradeep was brought out alive around 8:30 pm. He was rushed to the district hospital by ambulance, where he is undergoing treatment. Pradeep has a fracture in his leg. There is also a chest injury. The search for Raju is on. ADG Akhil Kumar, Commissioner Ravi Kumar NG, DIG J. Ravindra, Municipal Commissioner Avinash Singh and SSP Dr. Gaurav Grover, all the top officers also came to the spot. Only then the rescue could be intensified.
