Maharashtra Government says RTPCR is the most important thing when applying for Covid-19 Death Compensation

Families of Covid victims who feel they could be deprived of the Rs 50,000 ex-gratia compensation from the govt because of anomalies within the death certificate will heave a sigh of relief because the government has processed that though the death certificate doesn't mention explanation for death as Covid, consequent of kin can still get the compensation if the patient’s RT-PCR report was positive.
"My father's death certificate mentions that he died after the Covid. It does not mention whether he died of the Covid or not. This is because he died at home and after his return from the hospital where he was treated for the Covid, "said Sheetal Mahankale, a resident. by Gurav Pimple. The government, however, says these families need not worry.
“It is not necessary for the death certificate to mention Covid as the cause of death. If the RTPCR test confirmed that the patient is positive for Covid and the patient subsequently died, his family is entitled to compensation.
