Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), first dedicated attack helicopter to be built in India named 'Prachand', inducted into the IAF
Indigenously-built Light Combat Helicopter named ‘Prachand’ on induction into Indian Air Force at Jodhpur airbase, in presence of Defence minister Rajnath Singh, CDS General Anil Chauhan, and IAF chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.

The Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), the first dedicated attack helicopter to be built in India, has been named 'Prachand' and inducted into the IAF. As per the officials, The Army is looking at acquiring 114 LCHs over the next few years. The IAF has projected a requirement of 65.
The Light Combat Helicopter has been officially named Prachand, which when translated to English means 'fierce'. With this, the dream that India had 22 years ago has now been fulfilled. After so many years of hard work, the Air Force got the indigenous Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) on Monday. After joining the Air Force with this helicopter, the strength of India has increased tremendously.
This helicopter has the ability to attack enemies in every condition including the scorching desert, and snowy mountains. Its cannon can fire 750 bullets per minute, while it can also be equipped with anti-tank and air-to-air missiles. The special thing is that it joined the Air Force fleet on Ashtami day in Navratri. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has named this LCH 'Prachanda'. Rajnath Singh also flew in this helicopter.
In the induction ceremony, the indigenously-built Light Combat Helicopter, Prachand was inducted at Jodhpur airbase, in presence of Defence minister Rajnath Singh, CDS General Anil Chauhan and IAF chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. 15 LCHs built at a cost of about Rs 3885 crore are to be inducted into the Army, out of which 10 have been received by the Air Force today. 15 pilots of the Air Force have been trained for this squadron.
