But, with the beginning of the day on this date, the whole day will be auspicious for Kuldevi Puja and Kanya Bhoj in homes, as per the astrologers and pandits we spoke to. Also, due to the formation of Manas and Ravi Yoga, the whole day will be auspicious for shopping and new beginnings.
Due to the Navami Tithi being at the time of sunrise, on this day the full fruit of bathing, donation and Shradh will be available. Today Manas and Ravi Yoga are being formed from the planets and constellations. One can also buy new clothes with gold, silver and other precious metals in these auspicious yogas.
The goddess is worshiped in the form of Mahishasur Mardini on the ninth day of Navratri. According to mythology, it was on this date that the goddess killed Mahishasura. After this the deities and sages worshiped the goddess. Therefore there is a tradition of Havan and Mahapuja on Navami.
If the Goddess is not able to worship and fast during the entire Navratri, then worshiping the Goddess on Navami can only give the result of nine days of Goddess worship. According to Markandeya Purana, special worship of Goddess Durga should be done on this day.
On this day of Mahapuja in Navratri, the worship of Goddess gets the full fruit of the girl's feast. It is mentioned in the texts that if girls cannot do Bhoj and Puja for nine days, then it can be done only on Navami.
Puri's astrologer Dr. Ganesh Mishra says that the Navami of Ashwin Shukla Paksha is Manvadi Tithi. Explaining this, it is said that the date on which the creation begins after every cataclysm is called Manvadi Tithi. The Manvantara named Daksha started on this day. Therefore, taking a holy bath on this day washes away the sins committed unknowingly. Donating food, clothes and other things on the Navami of Navratri gives renewable virtue. There is also a tradition of performing Shradh on this date. The father is satisfied with this.
