Larsen and Toubro President Plans to Sell Off Hyderabad Metro Project Post 2026
Larsen and Toubro President Plans to Sell Off Hyderabad Metro Project: L&T present R Shankar Raman said that it is planning to sell the RS 18 crore Hyderabad Metro Project.
Raman adding to it said that the free bus scheme for women of Congress made it less interesting and the company already has a 65-year concession to operate the metro system.
Raman told Business Today TV that women travel more on buses, despite the number of buses not increasing and on the other side Men are traveling by trains.
Raman added, "We currently have 4 lakh 80,000-odd people using it per day. We need to lighten the dead burden of this project because of the current ridership."
He further added, "There is a gender distribution that is happening in the transportation system. Buses are being used by women who pay nothing and the metro is used by men who pay Rs 35 on an average per ticket."

He explains the reason that all the women are traveling by taking the advantage of free bus scheme which has left the women's compartment empty.
Adding to it he said, "My own assessment is that when we sit down for FY26 FY31 plan, this could be an asset to be monetized in that period because it would then be of interest to investors particularly the Pension funds and Global funds given the 65-year concession".
However, he also praises the Telangana government's efforts as a busy city like Hyderabad, introducing the free bus scheme was truly helpful for the people.
But a decision made on promises can't help the state's finances. "It's no fun," Raman said.
At Last, he added that the company is also planning to monetize some of the real estate that is attached to the metro system as it requested a Rs 3,000 crore soft loan with the Telangana government.
