Lakhimpur Kheri Case : Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra's son Ashish Mishra released from jail, got interim bail from Supreme Court
It is noteworthy that on October 3, 2021, violence broke out in Tikunia of Lakhimpur Kheri district when farmers were protesting against Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's visit to that area. Eight people were killed in this violence.

Lakhimpur Kheri case accused Ashish Mishra was released from Kheri Jail today. Ashish has been released after getting interim bail from the Supreme Court. Ashish is the son of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra. The Supreme Court had granted interim bail to Ashish Mishra in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. Confirming the release of Ashish Mishra from jail, Kheri District Jail Senior Superintendent Vipin Kumar Mishra said, “Yes he (Ashish Mishra) has been released from this jail. We have got the release order from the sessions court."
The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted interim bail for eight weeks to Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra's son Ashish Mishra in the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. Eight people lost their lives in this violence. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice JK Maheshwari directed that Ashish shall not reside in Uttar Pradesh or Delhi during the period of this interim bail. It is noteworthy that on October 3, 2021, violence broke out in Tikunia of Lakhimpur Kheri district when farmers were protesting against Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's visit to that area. Eight people were killed in this violence.
According to the FIR, four farmers were run over by an SUV in which Ashish Mishra was sitting. Following the incident, the driver of the SUV and two BJP workers were beaten to death by angry farmers. A journalist also died in that violence. Ashish Mishra was arrested on October 9, 2021 and released on February 15, 2022 following the order of the High Court. However, on April 24, 2022, Ashish Mishra surrendered after the Supreme Court canceled his bail on April 18, 2022.
The Supreme Court had asked Ashish Mishra to surrender within a week and sent him to the Allahabad High Court for a fresh, fair hearing on his bail application. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court had rejected Ashish Mishra's bail application on July 26 last year. After this, Ashish Mishra challenged the order of the High Court in the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, Union Minister Ajay Mishra was not at Lakhimpur Kheri on Friday. Officials said Ashish Mishra was brought out from the back gate of the jail amid tight security.
