Kunal Kamra Row: Bombay High Court Reserves Order, Stays Arrest
The high court has also instructed that police should not arrest the comedian arested till the order is passed.

Kunal Kamra Row: Ever since the public battle has begun with Mumbai High Court putting aside order regarding Kunal Kamra's plea against the FIR over his parody song aimed at Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde.
Mumbai, the high court has ordered the police not to arrest the comedian arrested until then.

"Arguments concluded. In the meantime, as agreed by PP that summons are under 35(3), which specifically refers that the arrest of person is not required, in that background arrest of this person does not arise. Matter reserved for orders till then petitioner shall not be arrested," the bench of justice Sarang Kotwal and justice Shriram Modak said while reserving the order, LiveLaw reported.
The Madras High Court, by direction granted giving interim respite to Kamra till April 17. Moving to court, he sought transit anticipatory bail with respect to the FIR lodged in Mumbai against him: the one which employed the word "traitor" regarding Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde in a show.

In March this year, a case was filed against Kunal Kamra, when he hurled the term "traitor" at Eknath Shinde in a pre-recorded show at 'The Habitat', Khar. The comment was regarding Shinde's rebellion in the year 2022 against Uddhav Thackeray, during which he split the Shiv Sena and entered into an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, leading to the downfall of MVA government.

Shiv Sena workers vandalised the venue when the video was uploaded on YouTube. The Mumbai police summoned Kamra thrice regarding this case, but he instead approached the Madras high court to secure his release from arrest.
He also approached the Bombay High Court seeking to quash the very FIR under consideration, on which the order was reserved on Wednesday itself. The ruling Mahayuti has been critical about Kamra's joke while the opposition stands by him, citating freedom of speech.
