The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made this announcement in which it named KL Rahul as Rohit Sharma's replacement as vice-captain.
Rahul will be the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team for the three-match Test match series in South Africa that is scheduled to start from December 26.
According to reports, Rohit Sharma had developed a hamstring injury while he was undergoing a training session before the team's departure for the South Africa tour.
The BCCI has already confirmed his injury earlier this week and there was suspense on who would replace him as the vice-captain.
After three test matches, India will also play three one day international matches against South Africa as well.
“The All-India Senior selection committee has named KL Rahul as vice-captain for the upcoming 3-match Test series against South Africa. KL Rahul replaces Rohit Sharma as vice-captain, who was ruled out of the Test series owing to a hamstring injury,” the BCCI said in a press release on December 19. Virat Kohli continues to be the captain of the test team.
