Kejriwal Not Accused in 1980s Rape Case, Viral Newspaper Clip Deemed Fake

Kejriwal Not Accused in 1980s Rape Case: Online has surfaced a newspaper clipping purportedly published by The Telegraph on 8 June 1987, with the headline 'IIT student accused of rape'. The report claims that the student was now Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Moreover, the survivor filed a complaint against Kejriwal with a local police station. As the story goes, "The prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus was shocked to hear that one of its students had been accused of raping a local girl." After police visited the campus and found the student hiding in his hostel room, they detained him and took him for questioning. Arvind Kejriwal, a 19-year-old student, had gone out with friends on Friday night for a party but did not return to the hostel.
It was found that the news article was fake, and was created with an online newspaper clip generator before the Delhi assembly elections in January 2020.
The news report says Kejriwal was detained by the local police after a girl lodged a complaint. It's from Kharagpur, where Kejriwal graduated from IIT Kharagpur.
Upon searching relevant keywords on Facebook, we discovered the clip went viral in 2016 too, which was debunked by The Quint.
In reviewing Kejriwal's affidavit, it was determined that he didn't face criminal charges. The newspaper clip was obtained through an online newspaper generator, and there are discrepancies in the style sheet.
