Hijab controversy in Karnataka is not taking its name to stop. Class 10th examinations are starting in the state from Monday. Regarding this, Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh said on Sunday that the wearing of hijab (head scarf) will not be allowed during the class 10th examination of the state board.
The minister said that after the order of the High Court, we have not allowed the hijab. We have clarified that they (students in hijab) can wear hijab on campus, but they cannot wear it in class. He also said that there will be no re-examination of the students who will leave the examination.
Minister Nagesh said that those who want to attend the college will have to follow the uniform dress code. He also said that this rule should be strictly followed.
The minister said that the Supreme Court's lawyers had put forth the arguments regarding the hijab before the full bench of the High Court, only after which the decision came. The petition also challenged the rights of the College Development Committee, which was rejected by the High Court. He also said that all arrangements have been made to conduct the examination smoothly.
