In the midst of the ongoing border dispute with Maharashtra, the Karnataka government is symbolically going to call a special session of the assembly in Belagavi. This session will start from Monday. The session will start at 11 am on Monday in 'Suvarna Vidhana Soudha'. The Karnataka government has also created a second assembly in Belagavi, where this special session is held once a year. Belagavi is also special for the Karnataka government because it is adjacent to the Maharashtra border and most of the people living here are Marathi. This has been done because the government can tell the Marathi people living in Belagavi that they consider them as their own. Belagavi was included in Karnataka in the year 1956. However, since Belagavi was merged with Karnataka, Maharashtra has been raising objections about it.
