On the college campus on Thursday, Neha, the daughter of Congress Councillor Niranjan Hiremath, was stabbed to death by her former classmate Fayaz Khondunaik. At BVB College, Hubballi, she was studying Master of Computer Applications (MCA).
It has been alleged that the murder incident is related to 'Love Jihad,' and the accused has already been arrested.
As a result of the murder of Neha Hiremath, there has been a political slugfest throughout the state. Protests have taken place statewide in support of capital punishment for Fayaz.
According to former Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa, the Congress government in that state is unconcerned about the incident.
Vijayendra, the Karnataka BJP President, compared Karnataka's law and order situation with Pakistan's. According to him, “Abysmal handling of Law and Order in the State is glaringly evident, that reminds one of the sorry state of affairs in PAKISTAN & AFGHANISTAN!"
