In 2022, Kim Kardashian In a Marilyn Monroe dress
In 2022, Kim Kardashian broke the internet once again by wearing a gown originally belonging to Marilyn Monroe on the Met Gala carpet.
In 1962, she wore the glittering ivory dress when she sang "Happy Birthday" to President John F. Kennedy.
She borrowed the gown from Ripley's Believe It or Not!, which purchased it from Julien's Auction for $4.81 million in November 2016.
Since she couldn't alter the dress, the reality star had to lose 16 pounds to fit into it.
In 2018, Rihanna
In a rhinestone-encrusted minidress paired with a matching hat and coat, Rihanna dominated the Met Gala red carpet.
John Galliano created her look for Maison Margiela based on the theme Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
Katy Perry, 2019
At the 2019 Met Gala, Katy Perry looked stunning in a Moschino dress decorated with candles.
In response to a question about how she would sit in her dress, Perry replied, "You don't sit down at the Met." The theme for 2019 was Camp: Notes on Fashion.

In 2021, Cara Delevingne wore a breast plate that read "Peg the Patriarchy"
The model wore Dior Haute Couture white trousers and a matching breastplate reading, "Peg the patriarchy," to the 2021 Met Gala.
While some fans praised Delevingne for her bravado, others criticized her for being crass.
Luna Matatas, a sex educator based in Canada, said she coined and trademarked the term "peg the patriarchy" in 2015.
The Doja Cat in 2023
Doja Cat made her Met Gala debut in 2023, when Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty was the theme.
In a white bejeweled Oscar de La Renta dress and matching cat-eared headcover, the Grammy-winning rapper dressed as Choupette, the designer's pet cat. For make-up, she used prosthetics to make her look like a cat.
