JSW Chairman Sajjan Jindal Says 'Elon Musk Can't Succeed in India,' Supports Tatas and Mahindra

JSW Chairman Sajjan Jindal Says 'Elon Musk Can't Succeed in India: This was said by Sajjan Jindal, the chairman and managing director of JSW Group, while commenting on the entry of the EV automaker Tesla into this country, claiming that Elon Musk cannot be successful in India. He said that Musk cannot do what Tata and Mahindra can do in the country.

“Although Musk is very smart, he can’t be successful in India," remarked Sajjan Jindal while speaking at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards.

“Elon Musk is not here. He is in the US," he said. “We Indians are here. He cannot produce what Mahindra can do, what Tata can do – it’s not possible. He can do (it) under Trump’s shadow, in the US. He’s super smart, no question about it. He’s a maverick, doing spacecraft and all that. He’s done amazing work, so I don’t want to take anything from him. But to be successful in India is not an easy job," Jindal said.

Elon Musk’s Tesla Entry In India

Elon Musk's Tesla has allegedly completed the site discussions for the first showroom in India-an important update. According to the registration documents, the electric vehicle manufacturer has closed the deal to erect its showroom in Mumbai.

The showroom would reportedly host the first office in India of the company in the Maker Maxity building in the business and retail hub of Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), near Mumbai airport, according to the report.

The move came just a few days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Tesla's CEO Elon Musk in the US.

As per the documents, Tesla signed a lease for five years, starting from February 16, 2025, and would shell out rent of approximately $446,000 (about Rs 38,872,030) for the first year in exchange for a space measuring 4,003 square feet (372 square metres)-almost as big as a basketball court.
