JP Nadda and Rajnath Singh will form political consensus with BJP allies and opposition parties
Presently the NDA government will try to approach all political parties for a consensus candidate to elect the highest constitutional post in India. According to the BJP, the process of reaching out to various political parties by both the leaders will start soon.

Ahead of the election of the President of India next month, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has authorized its national president JP Nadda o Defense Minister and Deputy Leader of Lok Sabha Rajnath Singh to hold discussions with all political parties.
Both the BJP leaders will hold discussions not only with allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) but also with opposition parties and independent candidates in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA). Presently, Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party led by Pashupati Paras, Apna Dal of Anupriya Patel, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) led by Dushyant Chautala, Ans- The Eastern Party, National People's Party (NPP), Naga People's Front (NPF), Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), among others, are allies of the BJP-led NDA.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had invited top leaders of opposition parties for a meeting on Saturday ahead of the presidential election, in which Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray would not be able to attend. Mamta had written a letter to 22 parties and appealed them to attend the meeting. Uddhav Thackeray was also called in this meeting. Mamta Banerjee has kept this meeting to chalk out a strategy for the Presidential election.
Last week the Election Commission of India announced that the election of the President of India would be held on 18 July and the results would be declared on 21 July. Ram Nath Kovind assumed office on 25 July 2017 while serving as the 14th President of India and his term ends on July 24, 2022.
