Joshimath Dismantle: There is a possibility of landslide due to seepage of water in the cracks
Landslides are also being feared due to leakage of water inside the buildings and cracks in the land due to continuous snowfall. Geologists have also told that if there is leakage of more water in these cracks then it can take the form of landslide.

The weather is becoming clear in landslide affected Joshimath on Saturday. People felt relief from the harsh winter due to the sunshine. But due to the continuing snowfall in the disaster-affected Joshimath for the last 24 hours, the challenges of the officials have also increased along with increasing the miseries of the common people.
On Friday, the demolition work of two hotels along with the red marked buildings was also stopped. However, the process of marking unsafe buildings and shifting families to relief camps continued. On the other hand, due to snowfall, the possibility of landslide has deepened due to seepage of water in the cracks of buildings and land. If this happens, the safe buildings around the unsafe buildings may also be at risk.
It has been raining and snowing in the Joshimath region since last Thursday night, which continued intermittently throughout the day on Friday. Due to this, the work of dismantling of 20 buildings including two hotels could not be done. Due to this, the traffic on Badrinath Highway from CMP Checkpost to Marwari Tirahe remained smooth throughout the day. Due to dismantling, the movement of vehicles was stopped on this part of the highway.
Landslides are also being feared due to leakage of water inside the buildings and cracks in the land due to continuous snowfall. Geologists have also told that if there is leakage of more water in these cracks then it can take the form of landslide. If this happens, the currently safe buildings in the vicinity of the evacuated unsafe buildings may also be at risk.
