JD Vance’s Bizarre Thanksgiving Post on Trump’s Wife Sparks Internet Frenzy
JD Vance certainly knows how to stir up a social media storm. This Thanksgiving, the Ohio senator sparked internet chatter, with a bizarre post that saw him superimposed as “Trump’s wife” in a reimagined version of Norman Rockwell’s famous painting.

JD Vance’s Bizarre Thanksgiving: JD Vance certainly knows how to stir up a social media storm. This Thanksgiving, the Ohio senator sparked internet chatter, with a bizarre post that saw him superimposed as “Trump’s wife” in a reimagined version of Norman Rockwell’s famous painting.
In the parody, Vance is the matriarch serving a Thanksgiving turkey—replaced with a Republican-dominated electoral map—to a family, with President-elect Donald Trump as the patriarch standing behind him.
Vance didn’t even bother to caption the image and now he’s getting roasted across the political spectrum.

Sharp Reactions Across Political Lines
Liberal commentators criticised Vance, interpreting the meme as an act of submissiveness toward Trump. MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan tweeted, "JD Vance posting an image of himself as Trump’s wife, and also with a map that doesn’t show people he and Trump won by one of the lowest margins in American history."
Film executive Franklin Leonard added, "I’ve seen a lot of embarrassing behaviour on this app, but I have never seen anything quite like this." Jason Linkins, deputy editor of The New Republic, weighed in, saying, "Some men are born with an almost fetishistic need to be ruled, and this weirdo is high-key one of them."
Trump and Musk Celebrate Thanksgiving at Mar-a-Lago
While Vance was trending online, Trump had a more traditional Thanksgiving at Mar-a-Lago with some big name guests: Elon Musk, Sylvester Stallone and Bill Belichick. Trump even took over the DJ duties and played “YMCA” and Elvis records for his guests.

Musk gave a toast to the incoming first family and further cemented his relationship with the President-elect. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had a separate meeting with Trump earlier in the week to patch things up.
Meanwhile, Trump stuck to his tradition of taking political swipes during the holiday. On Truth Social, he posted, "Happy Thanksgiving to all, including to the Radical Left Lunatics who have worked so hard to destroy our Country, but who have miserably failed… Don’t worry, our Country will soon be respected, productive, fair, and strong."
The Meme and the Politics
Vance posted this after Trump shared a meme of himself jumping out of a turkey with Democrats Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Nancy Pelosi.
Vance’s Thanksgiving antics, while humorous to some, reignited debates about his behaviour and relationship with Trump. Author Jennifer Erin Valent encapsulated the sentiment of many critics, stating, "I don’t even have anything pithy to say about this pure foolishness. I’m just deeply sad that Americans have put utterly unserious, emotionally stunted people in charge of the very serious, world-impacting business of running our nation."
