Jasprit Bumrah Wins ICC Cricketer of the Year 2024, Bags Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy
Jasprit Bumrah was awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year by the ICC for an outstanding performance in the three formats in 2024.

Jasprit Bumrah Wins ICC Cricketer of the Year 2024: Cricketer Jasprit Bumrah from India would be absorbed once again for being the winner of the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for Men’s Cricketer of the Year, it was declared by the International Cricket Council on Tuesday as a matter of celebration.

He thus becomes the fifth Indian cricketer to have been bestowed with this title after Rahul Dravid (2004), Sachin Tendulkar (2010), Ravichandran Ashwin (2016), and Virat Kohli (2017, 2018).
Earlier Jasprit Bumrah was also honored as the ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year.
In 2024, Bumrah was a standout player in every match. The current number-one in the Test rankings was also the fastest Indian pacer to reach 200 Test wickets, and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
The pacer also reached the 900 benchmark in the ICC Test bowling rankings, de-capping the year with a landmark 907 points-the biggest for any Indian bowler in history.
Bumrah was especially impressive for India in the Caribbean and the US at the T20 World Cup, where he was the player of the tournament with 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy of only 4.17.
Bumrah picked up 71 wickets across 13 Tests, more than any other bowler in 2024. He is second only to Kapil Dev for most wickets by an Indian fast bowler in 2024.

Bumrah therefore ended the year as the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, taking 32 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and he would be conferred Player of the Series accordingly.
Bumrah starred as he came up with a match-winning performance while playing against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. His figures of 3-14 helped India defend a low score in New York. He returned taking two wickets, He took 2-18 in his four innings. He bowled against Reeza Hendriks and Marco Jansen to help India clinch victory over South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup in Barbados.
He put on a show for the visitors in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He got fivers at surface in Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne while holding sway over the Australian batters.
Bumrah was the reason behind India being there with a chance to level the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney. His injury caused India's failure to beat Australia in the last Test and ultimately the series.
