Amidst all the speculation, it has now been confirmed that Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup starting this month in Australia. The BCCI issued a press release on Monday informing about Bumrah's exit. The board's medical team confirmed Bumrah's exit after the scan report came. The decision was taken after evaluating the injury and taking expert opinion.
Bumrah's replacement for the World Cup will be announced soon. Bumrah is suffering from a stress fracture in his back. It is believed that it may take 4 to 6 months for them to become fit.
Even four days ago, a BCCI official had told Bhaskar that Bumrah would not be able to go to Australia to play the World Cup due to injury. But, after this Board President Sourav Ganguly told that Bumrah is not out yet and any decision will be taken on him only after the detailed report comes and after consultation with experts. Coach Rahul Dravid had also said that he will not believe that Bumrah will not play in the World Cup until the experts talk to him.
Jasprit Bumrah was out of the entire Asia Cup. After this, he made a comeback in the three-match T20 series played against Australia. Here too he could not play the first match. He got a chance in the second match and bowled brilliantly. He bowled Australia captain Aaron Finch on the yorker ball. After which Finch himself praised him. In its next match, he proved to be a bit expensive. He gave away 50 runs in 4 overs and did not get a single wicket.
