Jaishankar Meets Xi in Beijing: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Chinese President Xi Jinping along with other SCO Foreign Ministers today. Jaishankar briefed Xi on the current state of bilateral ties.
Jaishankar conveyed the greetings of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chinese President Xi. He also briefed the Chinese leader on the recent developments in India-China relations and emphasized the importance of guidance from the top leadership of both countries in shaping their ties.

Jaishankar stated, "Called on President Xi Jinping this morning in Beijing along with my fellow SCO Foreign Ministers. Conveyed the greetings of President Droupadi Murmu & Prime Minister @narendramodi. Apprised President Xi of the recent development of our bilateral ties. Value the guidance of our leaders in that regard." in a post on X.
Jaishankar is in China to attend the SCO Foreign Ministers Meeting. Yesterday, he met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and spoke about the need for a long term approach to bilateral ties and building a stable and constructive relationship.
In an X posting, Jaishankar said he was hopeful that relations can move forward on a positive trajectory based on mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity.
"Had extensive discussions with Politburo Member and FM Wang Yi in Beijing tonight. Discussed the importance of taking a long-term perspective to bilateral relations and creating a stable & constructive relationship. It is up to us to deal with issues that pertain to the border, normalisation of people-to-people ties and the avoidance of restrictive trade measures & roadblocks," he stated.

"Hopeful that on the basis of mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity, relationships can take a positive path. Looking forward to participating in the SCO Foreign Ministers Meeting in Tianjin tomorrow. India is dedicated to ensuring positive outcomes and decisions," he said.
The meeting with Chinese President Xi comes a day after Jaishankar met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing. According to Xinhua, both leaders stressed the need to strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation.
During the meeting, Vice President Han said the meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kazan last October was a success and marked “a new beginning” in China-India relations.
