Jaipur Sweet Shops Rename ‘Mysore Pak’ to ‘Mysore Shree’ Amid Rising Patriotism

At least three well-known sweet shops in Jaipur, Rajasthan, have renamed their sweet to reflect their anti-Pakistani mindset and restarted their sweets as “Operation Sindoor” after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and the Indian military action.

According to a report from the PTI news agency, all sweet foods containing "Pak" in their name have also been renamed to recognize the mood and "national pride".

  • "Aam Pak" has been renamed "Aam Shree".
  • "Gond Pak" has been renamed "Gond Shree".
  • "Swarn Bhasm Pak" has been renamed "Swarn Shree".
  • "Chandi Bhasm Pak" has been renamed "Chandi Shree".

Anjali Jain, the owner of Tyohaar Sweets in Jaipur's Vaishali Nagar neighbourhood, elaborated on the reason for renaming and said there must be national pride across their delicacies. “The spirit of patriotism shouldn't just reside at the border but in every Indian home and heart,” PTI quoted Jain as saying.

Jain also said that her customers are applauding the changes made, as everyone was not happy after the Pahalgam attack, in which 26 civilians were killed by terrorists with links to Pakistan.

According to the report, Bombay Misthan Bhandar, a decades-old sweet shop chain, and Agarwal Caterers, also joined the renaming crusade by getting rid of anything with a "Pak" suffix.

“We wanted to send a clear message -- those who dare raise their eyes against India will have their names erased, and every Indian will respond in their own way. This is our sweet, symbolic retaliation,” said Bombay Misthan Bhandar general manager Vineet Trikha.

Businessman Ramesh Bhatia welcomed the move, comparing each patriotic gesture after the terror attack as being personal. “Changing the names of sweets may seem small, but it’s a powerful cultural response. It shows that even civilians stand united with our forces — from battlefield to sweet shop, the message is clear that India will not forget or forgive,” he added.

Pushpa Kaushik, a retired government teacher, said he smiled with "pride" when he heard the new name "Mysore Shree" instead of "Mysore Pak." Her comments on the initiative remind us that it is a lovely tribute to our soldiers: simple, meaningful, and genuine.
