New Delhi: On Saturday, stones were pelted on the procession being taken out on Lord Hanuman's birth anniversary in Jahangirpuri, Delhi. After the violence at 6 pm on Saturday, the police started action late at night. Currently, the Delhi Police is identifying the accused responsible for the incident on the basis of the video footage of stone-pelting. As per the official sources, the miscreants not only pelted stones but also looted the government ration vehicle while setting fire to the vehicles.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the Police have revealed that the stone-pelting started from the roof of the mosque. Attempts were made to incite violence by stone pelting and firing. According to the police, apart from the 14 arrested accused, about 30 people have been detained on the basis of suspicion.
The recent developments have revealed that the people of D block in Jahangirpuri started this procession from near Jahangirpuri police station and reached near Kushak cinema via C block. According to the police, at the same time suddenly a large number of stones started raining on them.
It is claimed that in the video received from the local people it is clearly visible that the people of the Muslim community are throwing stones from their roofs. After this, the violence took a formidable form. The police have so far scanned hundreds of video footage and are identifying those responsible for the incident.
