ISRO Partners with Europe for New Space Exploration Missions: A new agreement between the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the European Space Agency (ESA) seeks to boost human space exploration. As part of the agreement, signed on Saturday, for a partnership on astronaut training, mission execution, and various scientific experiments in space, the two agencies committed to working directly together.

The agreement was signed by ISRO Chairman S. Somanath and ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher and lays down the groundwork for several cooperative joint programs for human spaceflight in particular. The agreement encompasses astronaut training, development and integration of space experiments, utilization of ESA facilities on the International Space Station (ISS) for both human and biomedical research, as well as joint education and outreach programs.
One of the first such projects under the new agreement will be the Axiom-4 mission, which will launch with a crew including an ISRO Gaganyatri astronaut and an ESA astronaut. This is the first cooperative endeavor under the new agreement: both agencies will implement a series of experiments proposed by Indian Principal Investigators on the ISS as part of this mission. In addition, ISRO and ESA are expected to explore further collaborations in ESA's human physiology studies, technology demonstrations, and public outreach activities.

An outline of ISRO's plan for human spaceflight
In his statements after signing, Somanath pointed to ISRO's long-term vision on human spaceflight, which was accompanied by a discussion on India's forthcoming indigenous space station, the Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS), which will provide an avenue for interoperability among various human spaceflight platforms.
Hearty thanks from Aschbacher for all the progress the space agencies have put into this regards. The ESA council was told by Somanath where he hailed such agreement a strong foundation of further cooperation in exploration beyond the planet.
Leaders from ISRO and ESA were unanimous in expressing satisfaction at how things were going in regard to the Axiom-4 mission and renewed commitments to efforts joint in human spaceflight. The partnership is expected to open new horizons for scientific research and advancement in space technology and global cooperation in years ahead.
