Iran Warns Israel and U.S. Will “Pay Heavy Price” After Strikes Kill IRGC Leader and Hit Nuclear Sites

Iran Warns Israel and U.S.: Iranian state media says Revolutionary Guards leader killed in Israeli strikes as Iran vows to make Israel “pay a heavy price”

Israel’s PM Netanyahu says Israel hit nuclear targets in Iran and will keep striking “as many days as it takes”

Iranian state media says Revolutionary Guards leader Hossein Salami killed

Major General Hossein Salami, head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), was killed in Israeli strikes on Tehran. Iranian state media confirmed his death along with top nuclear scientists Farid Abbasi and Mohammad Mehdi. Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya HQ, was also killed. This is a big blow to Iran’s military leadership.

Israel struck multiple targets across Iran, military and nuclear. Loud explosions in northeast Tehran. Thick smoke in several areas. Iranian state TV says the IRGC HQ in Tehran was hit. Senior military officials were killed, and panic in residential areas.

"The armed forces will certainly respond to this Zionist attack," said Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesman for the general staff of the armed forces, adding that Israel "will pay a heavy price and should await strong response from the Iranian armed forces".

Earlier, Netanyahu said in a televised address, Israel had launched "Operation Rising Lion, a targeted military operation to roll back the Iranian threat to Israel's very survival".

"This operation will continue for as many days as it takes to remove this threat."

He said Iran had a program to develop nuclear weapons and said it "could produce a nuclear weapon" if not stopped.

He said Israel had struck at the heart of Iran's nuclear program.

"This is a clear and present danger to Israel's very survival," Netanyahu said.

Iranian media says several residential areas in Tehran were hit. Many civilians were killed, including children. State TV is showing damaged homes and grieving families.

Rescue workers are pulling victims from the rubble. Iran has declared national mourning as public anger grows. The airstrikes hit dozens of locations across Iran, including nuclear sites. Israel says they acted in self-defence.

Iran says it’s an act of war. Tensions in the region are at a boiling point. Iran’s leaders have promised a strong and direct response. “Loud explosions heard in different parts of the capital Tehran,” state TV reported on Friday morning without giving further details.

State TV also reported “loud explosions” in Natanz in Iran’s central Isfahan province, where a key nuclear site is located. Air traffic has been halted at Tehran’s main international airport, and neighbouring Iraq has closed its airspace.

Israel has warned Iran could strike back at any moment and has declared a state of emergency and closed its airspace. The blasts came after US President Donald Trump warned Israel could hit Iran’s nuclear sites.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called Israel's strikes against Iran a "unilateral action" and said the US was not involved, while also urging Iran not to target US interests or personnel.
