Iran Initially Denies Trump’s Ceasefire Claim, Then Signals Willingness to Pause After Israel Halts Strikes
U.S. President Donald Trump said that a ceasefire had been reached between Iran and Israel.

Trump’s Ceasefire Claim: On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump said that a ceasefire had been reached between Iran and Israel. However, Iran has denied the claim. Iran stated that they did not have a ceasefire proposal from the U.S., which requested a ceasefire. Meanwhile, Israel has not taken a position on the ceasefire claim and has not responded to the claim that the ceasefire is being implemented.
Taking to X, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated that there is "no agreement as of now."
"As of now, there is NO 'agreement' on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations. However, provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 am Tehran time, we have no intention to continue our response afterwards. The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later," he wrote.

Shortly after this tweet was sent, the foreign minister issued a statement saying their ceasefire in Tehran took effect at 4 AM local time.
“The military operations of our powerful Armed Forces to punish Israel for its aggression continued until the very last minute, at 4am. Together with all Iranians, I thank our brave Armed Forces who remain ready to defend our dear country until their last drop of blood, and who responded to any attack by the enemy until the very last minute,” Araghchi wrote on X.
While Israeli officials have stated that Israel is on board with the ceasefire, an official reaction from the country is awaited. As per Hebrew media, Israeli officials have noted that Prime Minister Netanyahu is on board with Trump's ceasefire plan as long as “Iran vows to stop its missile attacks."
In an AP report, the Israeli military would not comment on Trump's statement and the office of the Israeli PM has not issued a respond.

Trump's claim came in light of Iran launching missiles at their U.S. al-Udeid Air Base used by the U.S. President Trump and Qatar indicated no injuries or fatalities were reported in the missile strike.
