International Women’s Day 2022: President to confer Nari Shakti Puraskars to 29 Outstanding Individuals
The government of India is celebrating a week-long event, as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, which started on March 1 and will culminate on March 8 on the day of International Women’s Day.

The government of India is celebrating a week-long event, as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, which started on March 1 and will culminate on March 8 on the day of International Women’s Day.
President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will confer the Nari Shakti Puruskar for the years 2020 and 2021 to 29 outstanding individuals at a special ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi on 8th March, 2022. In the year 2021, the award ceremony of 2020 was supposed to be held but due to Covid-19, it was postponed.
According to a press statement, released by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, “The Honourable Prime Minister of India will also be having an interactive session with the Awardees to applaud their efforts and to inspire the masses to work for and excel in areas relating to women empowerment.”
It added, “In all, 28 awards (14 each for the year 2020 and 2021) will be presented to 29 individuals in recognition of their exceptional work in rendering distinguished services towards empowerment of women, especially vulnerable and marginalized women.”
The Ministry also informs that the ‘Nari Shakti Puraskar’ is an initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development to acknowledge the exceptional contribution made by individuals and institutions, to celebrate women as game changers and catalysts of positive change in society.
The winners belong to various fields such as entrepreneurship, agriculture, innovation, social work, arts and crafts, STEMM, and wildlife conservation among others.
