International platform being misused to justify terrorism , S Jaishankar said

"On the challenge of terrorism, the world is coming together with a more united response but multilateral forums are being misused to justify and shield the conspirators," he said, apparently referring to China. International platform being misused to justify terrorism , S Jaishankar said

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday during an open debate at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) took a veiled dig at China and its close ally Pakistan, saying they misused multilateral forums to justify terrorism and shield the perpetrators. He is going. Presiding over an open debate on the topic 'International Peace and Security and New Direction for Reformed Multilateralism' at the UNSC, Jaishankar also said that the conflict has created a situation that the multilateral platform cannot have a passive attitude.

"On the challenge of terrorism, the world is coming together with a more united response but multilateral forums are being misused to justify and shield the conspirators," he said, apparently referring to China. India and the US have blocked efforts on several occasions to list terrorists such as Pakistan's Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar.

The minister said the situation is no better when it comes to climate action and climate justice. Jaishankar said, "Instead of addressing the relevant issues at the appropriate forum, we have seen attempts to divert attention and mislead."

The External Affairs Minister said, “We have convened here today for an honest conversation about the effectiveness of multilateral institutions more than 75 years after their establishment. The question before us is how to improve them as the need for the same is increasing with each passing year.

He also said, “The effects of conflict situations have also underlined the need for more comprehensive global governance. Recent concerns on food, fertilizer and fuel security were not adequately expressed in the highest decision-making councils. That's why most of the world believes that their interests do not matter. We cannot let this happen again.
