Indigo passenger opens emergency exit on flight from Chennai
A previous communication from the DGCA said the flight was bound for Trivandrum, but the carrier later issued a clarification saying it was flying to Tiruchirappalli.
A passenger on IndiGo's Chennai-Tiruchirappalli flight opened the emergency door on December 10 last year. After which the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) informed through an official communication on Tuesday saying that it has taken note of the incident and ordered an inquiry. A previous communication from the DGCA said the flight was bound for Trivandrum, but the carrier later issued a clarification saying it was flying to Tiruchirappalli.
While confirming that the flight regulator had taken note of the incident. A senior DGCA official told ANI that “the incident was duly reported. It appears that the passenger accidentally opened the RH emergency exit door, although the aircraft was on the ground at the time. Following the incident, the crew members took all appropriate actions to restore airworthiness such as reinstalling the doors and pressure checks before the flight was cleared for departure.
