An Indian student is reported to have lost his life in the strife-torn Kharkiv city of Ukraine where Russian forces are bombing the civilian areas.

Confirming the tragic news, Arindam Bagchi, Official Spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs, India, tweeted, “With profound sorrow we confirm that an Indian student lost his life in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The Ministry is in touch with his family.”
He added, “We convey our deepest condolences to the family.”
Bagchi further said that the government is making all efforts to evacuate Indian students and nationals stranded in various parts of Ukraine.
“Foreign Secretary is calling in Ambassadors of Russia and Ukraine to reiterate our demand for urgent safe passage for Indian nationals who are still in Kharkiv and cities in other conflict zones,” Bagchi tweeted.
He added, “Similar action is also being undertaken by our Ambassadors in Russia and Ukraine.
According to reports, the student belongs to Karnataka and he had gone to Ukraine to do his MBBS. He didn’t stay in the college hostel.
He resided in a flat and he had gone out to have food. He was standing in the queue when the Russian air force dropped a bomb on the building.
Reports say that many Ukrainian nationals have lost their lives. The India Embassy has alerted this morning with the help of an advisory that all Indian students should immediately leave Kyiv.
It also asked them to be patient and calk during the train journey as these places might be crowded and they might have to face difficulty.
