Indian-Origin Doctor and Pilot Killed in UAE Plane Crash: An Indian-origin doctor lost his life in a light aircraft crash in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The aircraft reportedly crashed off the coast of UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah. The incident took place on Sunday. The other occupant of the plane was a 26-year-old Pakistani woman who was the plane's pilot.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has confirmed the news of the aircraft crash. The crash happened shortly after takeoff at 2 pm near the Cove Rotana Hotel. It added that relevant authorities are trying to determine the reason for the plane crash and the investigations are underway.

Sulaymaan Al Majid was co-piloting the plane. The General Civil Aviation Authority issued a statement confirming the incident. “We were looking forward to the New Year as a family, planning to celebrate together. Instead, our lives have been shattered. It feels like time has stopped for us. Sulaymaan was the light of our lives, and we don’t know how to move forward without him," Sulaymaan’s father said as quoted by Khaleej Times.
According to the report, Dr. Sulaymaan had rented the light aircraft for a sightseeing trip with his father, mother, and younger brother, who were also present at the aviation club to witness the experience. Sulaymaan’s younger brother was set to board the next flight.

The crash occurred shortly after takeoff near the Cove Rotana Hotel along the beach, said the aviation authority.
“Initial reports suggest the glider lost radio contact and later attempted an emergency landing. Despite resuscitation efforts, both occupants succumbed to their injuries," the aviation authority added.
Sulaymaan worked as a clinical fellow at the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust in the UK. He was actively involved with the British Medical Association, serving first as honorary secretary and later as co-chair of the Northern Resident Doctors Committee.
He championed causes such as pay restoration and reclassifying "junior doctors" to “resident doctors.”
