Back in the day, Men used to decorate themselves with animal skins, shells, threads, crystals, and pebbles bearing the symbolic representation of the meaning of dominance, leadership, and respect.
The Mughal period brought a revolution in Indian jewelry which was a mark of honor and status for everyone, rulers, warriors, and nobility used these accessories mark of power and domination. They also introduced the Kundan technique and intricate inlay work to India.
Each region of India has developed a specific type of jewelry that represents its own culture. Rulers like Akbar and Shah Jahan used to wear armlets, turban ornaments, necklaces, and rings exhibiting their social dominance

In recent few years there has been a huge increase in sales of jewelry for men, it seems like men are embracing jewelry and growing closer to their roots.
