India successfully test-fired ballistic missile from submarine INS Arihant

Ballistic Missile Launched: India's strategically important submarine INS Arihant successfully launched a ballistic missile on Friday. The Ministry of Defense gave this information. The missile was test-fired to a predetermined range and met all operational and technical parameters while striking the target in the Bay of Bengal with perfect accuracy. "Successful user training of SLBM (Submarine Ballistic Missile Launch) by INS Arihant is critical to proving launch crew efficiency and in line with the SSBN programme, a key element of India's nuclear deterrence," the ministry said.

"It is a strong, durable and assured countermeasures, in keeping with India's policy of 'credible minimum deterrence', underscoring its commitment to 'no first use'," the statement said.
