India started with a win in the Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup,trounced the host country by 7 wickets

The ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup has started in South Africa. The Indian Under-19 women's team (IND U19 W vs SA U19 W) has started the tournament with a win. Host nation South Africa decided to bat first against India. Batting first, South Africa scored 166 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. Chasing the target of 167 runs, the Indian Under-19 women's team scored 170 runs losing three wickets. India beat South Africa by seven wickets.

Making their T20 World Cup debut, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Alandry Janse van Rensburg and Simone Lorens got off to a brisk start. There was a 56-run partnership between the two for the first wicket. Alandry Janse scored 23 runs and Lawrence scored 61 runs.

Maddison Landesman scored quick runs in the end overs. Landsman's 17-ball 32 cameo helped South Africa reach a score of 166 runs. For India, Captain Shefali Verma got 2, Sonam Yadav and Parshvi Chopra got one wicket each. A batsman was run out. Chasing the target of 167 runs, India started aggressively. Captain Shefali Verma and Shweta Sehrawat shared a 77-run partnership for the first wicket. Before getting out, Shefali played a stormy inning of 47 runs off 16 balls.
