India Set 272 Runs Target For England, Shami Scores Fine unbeaten half-century

Today Mohammed Shami (not out 56) and Jasprit  Bumrah (not out 34) surprised everyone with their batting, Shami completed his half-century with a six-over mid-wicket off Moeen Ali. He faced 70 balls and hit 6 fours and 1 six. Bumrah played with confidence and gave a stand to Shami while facing 64 balls, hitting 3 fours.

India Set 272 Runs Target For England, Shami Scores Fine unbeaten half-century

London: Fine unbeaten half-century by Mohammed Shami (not out 56) and sensible batting by Jasprit Bumrah (not out 34)  put India in a position to give England a target of 272 runs in possible 60 overs on the fifth day in the second Test match. Both Indian batsmen have added 89 runs for the unbroken ninth-wicket partnership.

India declared their second innings soon after lunch at the score of 298 for 8 and lead by 271 runs. Virat Kohli saw overcast conditions and immediately decided to declare the innings.

Today Shami and Bumrah surprised everyone with their batting, Shami completed his half-century with a six-over mid-wicket off Moeen Ali. He faced 70 balls and hit 6 fours and 1 six. Bumrah played with confidence and gave a stand to Shami while facing 64 balls, hitting 3 fours.

India started the last day with an overnight score of 181 for 6. Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma could not play long innings. Pant got out for 22 and Ishant for16. Both became the victim of fast bowler Robinson. They contributed 19 runs for the 7th wicket.

India first innings: 364 All out in 126.1 Overs ( K L Rahul 129, Rohit Sharma 83, Virat Kohli 42, and Ravindra Jadeja 40, James Anderson 5/62. Robinson 2/ 73, Mark wood 2/91).

England first innings: 391 All out in 128 overs  (Joe Root Not out 180, Jonny Bairstow 57, Rory Burns 49, Moeen Ali 27, Jos Buttler 23, Dom Sibley 11, Mohammed Siraj 4/94, Ishant Sharma 3/69, Mohammed Shami 2/95).

India second innings: 298 for 8 declare( Ajinkya Rahane 61, Mohammed Shami not out 56, Jasprit Bumrah not out 34, Cheteshwar Pujara 45, Rohit Sharma 21, Virat Kohli 20, Rishabh Pant 22, Ishant Sharma not out 16, Mark Wood 3/40, Robinson 2/41 Moeen Ali 2/52).
