India Releases Official Statement on Gaza Situation After Israeli Airstrikes

Israel claims the timing of the offensive against Gaza was because of a lack of progress in the negotiations for an extension of a cease-fire, which held for just under two months.

India Releases Official Statement on Gaza Situation After Israeli Airstrikes

India Releases Official Statement on Gaza Situation: According to Wednesday's declaration from the Indian government on the conduct of events in Gaza, air strikes in this region will be resumed by Israel. It has compelled India to call for the release of all hostages and keeping a streamlined supply of humanitarian relief.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, however, has refused to activate the second stage of the ceasefire relating to Hamas. Hence, over 430 Palestinians, including 183 child casualties, have lost their lives since Tuesday when Israel launched bombardment on Gaza.

Israel claims "Israeli airstrikes on Gaza were ordered because, despite negotiations, there was no progress toward extending the almost 60-day cease-fire" between them. Netanyahu has claimed that this current bombardment is "only the beginning" and truce negotiations will be conducted "under fire".

Notably, the Hamas, which triggered the conflict with its terror attack on Israel in October 2023, did say that it has not closed the door on negotiation considering the latest missiles bombardments on the city by Tel Aviv; however, it asserted that there is no need for a new cease-fire agreement.

Updated death tolls released by the government media office of Gaza indicate more than 61,700 and that many Palestinians are now considered dead under the rubble. It is being reported that Hamas's attacks have caused nearly 1,100 fatalities in Israel.

The hostages traded by Hamas for prisoners held by Israel would thus serve as the main terms in the cease-fire negotiated by the United States as well as Egypt and Qatar, its most significant regional actors.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands protested against the warfare resurgence in Gaza and in opposition of Netanyahu's actions to discharge Ronen Bar, chief of Shin Bet-the internal security agency-in the Jerusalem Anti-Government Protest that ensued Wednesday.

The tension between Netanyahu and Shin Bet has increased following an internal investigation into Hamas attacks by the agency.

India has, however, opposed all kinds of terrorism, firming up its call for both parties to get back to dialogue and diplomacy towards a two-state solution. Furthermore, India stated that humanitarian relief needs to be extended again for the victims in Gaza.
