India overtakes Britain to become world's fifth largest economy
The International Monetary Fund (IMF)'s own forecasts show that India has overtaken the UK in terms of dollars on an annual basis this year and is now behind only the US, China, Japan and Germany. This boom of India in a decade is remarkable. A decade ago, India was ranked 11th among the largest economies while the UK was at number five.

India has become the fifth-largest economy in the world, leaving Britain behind. At a time when the government in London is facing the shock of living, it has got this big blow from India. In the last three months of 2021, India has earned the credit of becoming the fifth largest economy in the world, surpassing Britain. According to a Bloomberg report, according to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data of the International Monetary Fund, this 'calculation' is based on the US dollar.
This fall of Britain in the international ranking is like a challenge for the new Prime Minister. Members of the Conservative Party will choose Boris Johnson's successor on Monday. Foreign Minister Liz Trujs is likely to leave behind Indian-origin minister Rishi Sunak in this race. The winner of this race will handle the country facing the steepest inflation and rising risks of recession in four decades. The Bank of England's warning is raising concerns in this matter, which says that this round may continue till 2024.
The Indian economy is expected to grow by over 7 percent this year. On the other hand, if we talk about Britain, then its problems may increase further in the coming times. UK GDP grew only one per cent in cash in the second quarter. If we take inflation into account, it has come down by 0.1%.
