India May Launch Military Action After Pahalgam Attack, Claims Pakistan Minister
Asif stated that Pakistan was on high alert and that it would only resort to its nuclear capabilities when "there is a direct threat to our existence".

India May Launch Military Action After Pahalgam Attack: Pakistan's defence minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, said on Monday that in the wake of last week's deadly terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, an Indian incursion is expected.
Tensions have escalated between the two countries currently nuclearized ever since the massacre last week, which left 26 dead and tended to hubbub across the nation. There are a few demands to act against Pakistan.
"We have reinforced our forces because it is something which is imminent now. So in that situation, some strategic decisions have to be taken, so those decisions have been taken," Asif told Reuters in an interview at his office in Islamabad.
Asif said that India's Army had raised the necessary alarms due to the ramping up of rhetoric. The military had briefed the government on the possibility of attack by India, but he did not go further as to specify what made him feel that an incursion was very imminent.
Following the terrorist attack at Pahalgam last week, the investigation pointed towards two suspects as Pakistani terrorists. Meanwhile, Islamabad denied any involvement in the attack and called for a neutral inquiry.
Asif stated that Pakistan was on high alert and that it would only resort to its nuclear capabilities when "there is a direct threat to our existence".
As a result of rising tensions over the Pahalgam terror incident, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that Islamabad stood ready for a "neutral investigation" of the Pahalgam terror strike.

During an address on Saturday at a ceremony held at a military academy in Abbottabad - Asif said Pakistan was on high alert and that it would only use its arsenal of nuclear weapons if "there is a direct threat to our existence."
Addressing a ceremony at a military academy in Abbottabad, Sharif said, “Pakistan is open to participating in any neutral, transparent and credible investigation.” The call was slammed by J&K CM Omar Abdullah.
However, he also asserted that Pakistani forces remain "fully capable and prepared to defend the country's sovereignty and its territorial integrity against any misadventure as clearly demonstrated by its measured yet resolute response to India's reckless incursion in February 2019".
